Turkey Breeding Company Hybrid Turkeys Faces Animal Cruelty Charges

Hybrid Turkeys, one of the largest turkey breeding companies in the world, faces 11 animal cruelty charges following the release of an undercover video earlier this year by the group Mercy For Animals Canada. The video showed brutal handling of turkeys, failed euthanazias and lack of proper care for sick and injured birds at one of Hybrid’s Canadian facilities.

According to Anna Pippus, MFA Canada’s director of legal advocacy, it is the first time in Canada that animal cruelty charges have resulted from an investigation by an animal rights group.
